The traditional Maltese clock better known as ‘Arlogg tal-Lira’ finds its origin in the late 17th century. They are handcrafted designed pieces, handed down from generation to generation and are typical of a style that has remained popular for the last three hundred years. Although all based on a typical style, each clock represented an individuality and particular originality. The wooden case is usually hand painted and gilded in sophisticated motifs. The face of the clock introduces ornamental expressions often of local country and semi-naturalistic scenes. The Maltese clock is still being crafted to this very day. This replica tries to capture some of the classic characteristics and magic of the unique design of the Maltese clock.
